In November, I wrote about the end of an era at the Powers Ranch east of Colorado Springs. The late Ray Powers moved his Powers Dairy there in the early 1970s; he later shifted from dairy to beef cattle. The final chapter for the property was as a horse boarding facility. Last fall, after 40-plus years as a working ranch, operations ended.
On Saturday, the remnants of the ranch will be auctioned off. Trucks, tractors, trailers, dairy buildings, shop equipment, tack and vet equipment – everything will be sold.
Among some items that caught my eye:
- Several full-sized church pews.
- A 1989 John Deer 650 4WD diesel tractor.
- Steel corral panels of various lengths.
- Saddle blankets.
- Kawasaki Mule ATV.
- About 500 tons of crushed gravel road base.
