Colorado Springs Horseman’s Day – and mules, too

I dropped in on Colorado Springs Horseman’s Day on Saturday. While I didn’t hear Temple Grandin’s presentation, I did see her. There were a lot of cool vendors and booths, plus clinics and kids having fun on ponies. I spent much of my time visiting with members of the Pikes Peak Long Ears Association, a group of people with a love of mules and donkeys.

“We do everything with our mules that people do with their horses,” Linda Geist, club president, told me – trail rides, shows and so on. The club has been around since 1995 and is in search of new members. They meet the first Tuesday of the month at County Buffet at the Citadel Crossing shopping center.

The group also is involved in putting on Colorado Classic Mule & Donkey Days, planned for April 25-27 at the Douglas County Fairgrounds in Castle Rock. You can read more about that event here.
