‘Anything a horse can do, a mule can do’

I got an email from a reader, Karan Godwin-Corey, who enjoyed my column last week on mules. But, she says, I missed one thing: “Once one gets a mule, they NEVER go back to horses!,” she wrote.

“Anything a horse can do, a mule can do.  Mules live longer, are smarter, can thrive on less quality feed, they are stronger, don’t get sick the way horses do and they really do bond like a dog – a mule owner must spend some time each day with their respective mule, even if it is just scratching those big, beautiful ears!”

She also let me know about a mule club in town, the Pikes Peak Long Ears Association. Below is a photo from the group’s Facebook page.
