VoteWith candidate petitions due this Friday in Woodland Park for the April 8 election, the city has already scheduled a forum for residents to learn more about the races.

City Clerk Cindy Morse said the candidate forum will be held at Wednesday, March 19 at 7 p.m. at City Hall.

Morse said all candidates are expected to be at the public event, which will be held in the city council chambers, to share their views and answer questions from voters.

Mayor David Turley is up for re-election and could be challenged by councilman Gary Brovetto, who Morse said took a petition to run for mayor, but on Monday had not yet turned it in.

There will also be races for city council. Current councilman John Schafer filed a petition to stay on another term and newcomer Noel Sawyer also announced his candidacy. Other councilman Ken Matthews and Eric Smith, the Mayor Pro Tem, have not yet officially entered the race.
