Just heard about this, even though I live in Woodland Park.

The Gazette’s Brent W. New reports that the first Colorado High School Winter Classic will be held this Saturday (Feb. 1) at the Woodland Park Ice Rink, a venue that I love. I have skated at the outdoor rink at the Meadow Wood Sports Complex many times. And my son even played some peewee hockey on that sheet.

According to New, USA Hockey’s Ken Martel, who is also the Pine Creek High School hockey coach, organized the event that will feature his Eagles team against the 11-1 Lewis-Palmer hockey squad. The game is scheduled for 6 p.m.
