• Sky Sox announce 2014 game promotions

    Sox the FoxThe Colorado Springs Sky Sox announced their 2014 promotional schedule which begins  with the home opener  Friday, April 11 against the Round Rock Express.

    Highlighting the 2014 promotional calendar are a new-high of 18 fireworks shows including 13 Friday night displays and special events including Thursday, July 3 and select Saturdays throughout the year. Saturday fireworks shows will include themes with live character appearances and performances including Star Wars on June 28, Star Trek on July 26, and Batman on August 23 for Sky Fest, the biggest fireworks show of the year.

    Fans may want to mark major events on their calendar including opening weekend April 11-13, Used Car Night on Saturday, July 12, and Todd Helton Mini-Statue giveaway on Saturday, Aug. 9.  Other popular mainstays return including   six Kids Eat Free Mondays, eight $2 Tuesdays, nine $3 Craft Brew Thursdays and 11 50¢ hot dog Sundays.

  • Roster/tickets update headed into New Orleans road series

    t551_main_logoCatcher/infielder Jordan Pacheco was scheduled to start at first base in his first game with the Sky Sox before Monday’s rain-out. The Pacific Coast League game will be made up in Fresno at a time to be determined Aug. 30 to Sept. 2, the final day of the regular season, if necessary.  

    The game’s tickets are redeemable for any remaining home game this season. Monday was the sixth Sky Sox home game postponed due to weather this season.

    Infielder Charlie Culberson was called up to take Pacheco’s place with the Rockies. It is his second stint in the majors.

    Pitcher Michael Solbach was sent down to Double-A Tulsa.

    The Sky Sox play at New Orleans Tuesday through Friday with another four road games at Oklahoma City. They return to Colorado Springs for an eight-game homestand Aug. 8-15 (Nashville, Memphis).
