The Colorado Rockies placed right-handed pitcher Tyler Chatwood on the 15-day disabled list with a right elbow strain. In addition, the club recalled right-handed pitcher Chad Bettis from Triple-A Colorado Springs. Bettis (No. 35) will be available for the Rockies against the Diamondbacks at Chase Field at 7:40 p.m. tonight.
Chatwood, 24, made his second Opening Day roster and has made four starts for the Rockies this year, going 1-0 with a 4.50 ERA (24.0 ip, 12 er). This will be Chatwood’s second stint on the disabled list this year.
Bettis, 24, began the season on the Rockies Opening Day roster for the first time in his career before he was optioned to Triple-A on April 25 where he made one scoreless appearance (2.0 innings). In 11 games with the Rockies this season, he is 0-1 with a 7.15 ERA (11.1 innings, 9 ER), 3 walks and 7 strikeouts.
