Cook, Golson leave Sky Sox; Galarraga arrives; Francis heads to bullpen

Cook phillies mugCareer Rockies wins leader Aaron Cook is on the temporary inactive list after he decided to sit out the rest of the 2013 season. He has left the Sky Sox.

Outfielder Greg Golson was released to make room for starting pitcher Armando Galarraga (No. 33), who joined the Rockies organization as part of a trade with the Reds for minor leaguer Parker Frazier on July 15.

Francis MUGThe Denver Post is reporting that Jeff Francis will move to the bullpen in Colorado Springs to develop as a reliever.

Galarraga, 31, spent the entire season with Triple-A Louisville where he has gone 6-6 with a 2.98 ERA (84.2 ip, 28 er) over 16 starts. He has appeared in 100 career Major League games, 91 were starts, with Texas, Detroit, Arizona and Houston going 26-34 with a 4.78 ERA (542.0 ip, 288 er). In 2008 with Detroit, he went 13-7 with a 3.73 ERA (178.2 ip, 74 er) over 30 games/28 starts and finished fourth in the American League’s Rookie of the Year voting.
