Pipeline construction on Constitution to affect traffic

Published: March 13, 2014, 11:38 pm, by Garrison Wells

Pipeline work on Constitution Avenue will impact traffic from Friday (March 14) through March 17.

The temporary closure will restrict westbound motorists on Constitution from turning left (south) onto Hannah Ridge, according to a news release from  Colorado Springs Utilities. Other impacts:

  • Additional brief closure expected in weeks ahead for repaving work
  • Motorists should access Feathergrass and Wilshire neighborhoods by using Palmer Park Boulevard during this closure.
  • Eastbound Constitution motorists will not be affected.

Beginning on March 17, crews will begin removing medians between eastbound and westbound lanes of Constitution, just west of Peterson Road. Temporary traffic signals also will be installed at the Constitution and Peterson intersection.

And from March 26-30, crews will begin detouring traffic on northbound and southbound Peterson at Constitution. This work has been scheduled during the District 49 Spring Break to limit impacts to school traffic.

Colorado Springs Utilities will provide ongoing traffic updates using news advisories and social media, as well as online at www.SDSwater.org.
