Sunday all-star games showcase seniors

On Sunday, five girls’ basketball senior all-star games will take place at Arvada West High School.

The Colorado Coaches of Girls’ Sports will have its annual all-star games for seniors of each classification. The Pikes Peak region has eight players scheduled to take part.

Megan Kavalec of Rampart and Meagan Kramer of Doherty will go head to head in the Class 5A game (as they did in the 5A Colorado Springs Metro League) at 3 p.m.

Palmer Ridge’s Ali Meyer, the 2012-13 Gazette 5A/4A player of the year, will play for the 4A Red team while Tiffani Jackson of 4A state champion Mesa Ridge will play opposite Meyer on the Blue Team. The 4A game is at 1:30 p.m.

The Classical Academy’s Courtney Griggs is the region’s only representative in the 3A game, playing for the Red team. The 3A game tips off at noon.

Calhan doubles up with Riley Cookson and Morgan Helton playing for the 2A Red team. They’ll go up against rival Peyton’s Vaden Holmes. That game is scheduled to start at 10:30 a.m.

The 1A game is slated to kick things off at 9 a.m. Sunday.

All the players will be honored at a banquet on Saturday.

The rosters are subject to change.
