Four years of planning, eight months of construction and lots of beer making and Niki and Travis Fields are ready for the grand opening Saturday of their Fieldhouse Brewing Co. in downtown Colorado Springs.
“It’s almost like relief,” Niki said. “We’re here. I know we still have a lot of work ahead of us, but we’re here.”
Fieldhouse Brewing Co. at 521 S. Tejon St. softly opened doors this week to some happy beer connoisseurs. The brewery features four of its own craft beers – “Sticky Paws,” a honey wheat; “Fist Pump,” a milk stout; and Paralysis by Analysis,” an IPA and a gluten free version of the IPA – which already has found an audience, Niki said.
Travis, an electrician, started brewing beer about four years ago. The couple decided to open their own place and started planning.
Now, on the eve of the grand opening, they are braced for the downtown Broadmoor Pikes Peak International Hill Climb Fan Fest and the crowds it will bring.
“It’s like baptism by fire, “Niki said. “We’ll hit the ground running.”
Grand opening celebration begins at noon Saturday and goes until 10 p.m. There will be five food trucks throughout the day and two bands playing. And for the little ones, there will be root beer on tap.
