GreenmanCalling all craft beer snobs: Put your taste buds to the test in The Green Man’s Match Game 44 craft beer tasting contest, 2 p.m. Saturday at the taproom, 320 S. Weber St.

For $44, contestants get to blind taste four 5-ounce pours of craft beer per round and win prizes (plus more beer to drink/taste) if they answer right.

Just two correct answers earns advancement to the next round, but all contestants are guaranteed four rounds, a taproom T-shirt and hors d’oeuvres, as well as live entertainment by musician John Will.

The thirsty and bold will get a chance to pit their palates against local beer experts, including Ryan Hannigan of Focus on the Beer. Prizes will be awarded per round. The contestant with the most correct answers at the event’s close receives an “ultimate grand prize” of bar tab credit, along with “infamy, accolades, a slight buzz, respect!” Sounds good to us.

The event is a fundraiser for the American Distance Project, a non-profit that focuses on the development of competitive American distance runners. For tickets, visit the taproom’s website, www.greenmantaps.com.
