This is new.
Not an injury to Peyton Manning, although he’s been as durable as they come.
Peyton Manning talking about an injury to Peyton Manning.
Just left the Broncos locker room/media session after today’s 28-20 win against the Chargers. Here’s what stood out:
“I’ll have an MRI tomorrow,” Manning said.
He added, “I’m pretty sore,” and the 37-year-old quarterback certainly looked the part. The Chargers smacked him a couple of times, notably on a sack-fumble and again in the final 2 minutes.
“They kind of got me twice in the lower areas,” Manning said.
Manning declined to specify the nature of the injury. “Somewhere in my lower body,” he said.
“I feel like the injury report is very revealing to the opponent as well as the folks in Vegas,” Manning said.
He has been listed on the injury report as having an ankle injury.
“I had an MRI a couple of weeks ago,” he said.
As veiled as this was, it’s a rare day when Manning says anything at all about an injury. Mum’s usually the word. But everything he says — everything — is said for a reason. I’m just not sure what this reason is.
More on Peyton Manning’s status coming in Monday’s Gazette.
