“The Shining” is a great movie and my opinion was set before I moved to Colorado.

A U.S. map floating around on the Internet shows each state with a horror movie representing it. Now is each movie the best one to represent specific states? Well, that’s for debate.

“The Shining” is one of those movies that I stop to watch if I’m flipping through channels. There’s just something about a crazed badass Jack Nicholson that gets me every time.

If you don’t know what I’m talking about, the movie, released in 1980, features an off-season caretaker of a hotel in Colorado. The film is set in winter and it’s cold. This is when the scary stuff happens.

The Stanley Hotel in Estes Park is also featured in the film, though it goes by a different name. A tour of the hotel is on my bucket list.
