What’s the most commonly spoken language in Colorado other than English or Spanish?

Like many states across the middle of the U.S., it’s German. Surprised?

Slate.com published a series of language-themed U.S. maps recently using the Census Bureau’s American Community Survey.

The maps are pretty cool and worth looking at to see our state’s diversity.

The most commonly spoken Native American language in Colorado is Navajo, according to Slate. Swedish is the most commonly spoken Scandinavian language and Hindi is the most commonly spokes Indo-Aryan language. Another map shows that Amharic is tops in Colorado for the most spoken African language.
