Manitou Springs is the place to be.
The neat little tourist town just west of Colorado Springs was ranked second as a best value destination in the country, according tom Trivago, a hotel search website.
Trivago recently published US Best Value Destinations for 2014. Port Charlotte, Fla., tops the list of 50. Two other Colorado cities made the list. Fort Collins and Steamboat Springs are listed, 17 and 18, respectively. California and Florida tie for the most, with 7 each.
Here is more on the list touted as vacation destinations that won’t break the bank, provided by Trivago spokeswoman Katie Merrill:
“Based on the yearly average overnight price of a standard double room, combined with the destinations’ overall hotel reputation (based on over 82 million traveler reviews), the index delivers a list of America’s tops in terms of delivering the biggest bang for your buck on a vacation in 2014.”
Manitou is a fun town and of course, beautiful. Thanks to a colleague, I’ve been living there since I moved to Colorado.
It will be interesting to see if Manitou’s new law allowing the sale of recreational marijuana will affect the ranking in the future. Only time will tell. In the meantime, go visit Manitou.
