The New York Times recently published a powerful map on its website that outlines poverty in America.
The map uses data from the Census Bureau and is based on the 2012 poverty threshold. The Times gives readers two views of poverty in America –those below the poverty line and those living in poverty.
The map, shaded in blue, is detailed, especially in large cities. Denver is one of 11 highlighted cities. Higher rates are shaded in dark blue.
Colorado has three counties with a poverty rate of 30 percent or higher – Saguache County, Crowley County and Bent County.
