Perhaps one of Santa’s reindeer wanted to get a jump on delivering gifts to good little boys and girls in Colorado. Or, maybe it just wanted a clean break.

I can’t wait to share this exciting story with my 5-year-old daughter. Don’t worry, the story ends with a happy ending.

While Santa Claus was inside a mall recently talking to children in the town of Dillon, one of his reindeer broke free from an enclosure and it took another reindeer to lure back into a trailer.

Dillon Police Department Officer Bryan Wagner told WTKR that he helped track down the reindeer after it was reported missing. The reindeer swam across nearby Lake Dillon to Robert’s Tunnel.

“When he came out to Robert’s Tunnel, he still had his lead on, and that was actually good for us because it was easier to find him because it was a definite pattern in the snow,” Wagner told WTKR.

Wagner and an animal control officer used another reindeer to lure the rogue reindeer into a trailer.

When asked why he escaped, the reindeer said no comment.

OK, that last sentence isn’t true, but I’ll share it with my daughter just to see her reaction.

Happy holidays!
