Rick Koester, the Colorado man who was trapped in his truck for six days in October after a wreck, is still recovering.
His survival is nothing short of extraordinary. Koester recently told his story to the Today Show in a fascinating interview.
The truck carrying Ronald Lee Mohr and Koester went off U.S. Highway 50 and into a ravine on Oct. 11 near Canon City in central Colorado. Mohr died from his injuries and Koester was stuck six nights in near-freezing temperatures next to his friend’s body.
Koester wasn’t found until a state Department of Transportation worker spotted the truck.
“I remember waking up thinking I was in a dream,” Koester said. “I was lying on top of my dead friend.”
