Here is some interesting news out of Castle Rock.
A controversial bronze sculpture, which depicts a melting earth, was banished from the Castle Rock town hall over the summer is now up for auction.
The 8-inch sculpture is valued at $800 because of the bronze, according to OurCastleRocknews.com.
In August, the city council decided to remove the sculpture after the mayor said “it really doesn’t make sense for the Town of Castle Rock to be financing pieces of art that could advocate a certain political position.”
The nonprofit Stars for Douglas County is hosting the auction Friday. Proceeds from last year’s auction resulted in $1,000 college scholarships and five $1,000 grants, according to the article.
Not interested in the melting earth sculpture? A signed football by Peyton Manning will also be auctioned.
