Bicycling is popular in Colorado and a new national ranking proves it.
Colorado is the second most bike friendly state just behind Washington state, according to The League of American Bicyclists.
Colorado scored high in three of the five categories. It scored a top score of five in legislation and enforcement, and a score of four for policies and programs and education and encouragement. Colorado scored a two in infrastructure and funding, and evaluation and planning. For more on the score, click here.
Nineteen Colorado communities are listed the league as bicycle friendly, including Colorado Springs. Each community has a short profile and who to contact to learn more about biking.
Here is what the website had to say about the Springs: The City of Colorado Springs is unique in that it offers not only a good bicycle lane and shared use path system, it also has over a dozen world class mountain biking locations within its City limits, five BMX parks, and a free ride park. The breadth of these facilities affords residents and visitors the opportunity to participate in all kinds of cycling. We even have bicycle polo here.
