Did you immediately pull your shoulders back? I did!
If you’re in a room full of people right now, take a look around at posture. Do you see the beginnings of hunchbacks? I do. It’s so easy to succumb to these rounded backs and collapsed shoulders, isn’t it? I’m guilty, too. I sit in a chair for eight hours a day, and often forget to sit up straight. Lately I’ve even taken to rolling up a shawl into a ball, and placing it between my low back and chair. It reminds me to sit tall.
Michaelle Edwards, LMT ERYT 500 from Kauai, Hawaii, will give a day-long workshop this Saturday on eradicating poor posture: “Change Your Posture, Change Your Life.” She’ll teach the YogAlign method, which I’m not familiar with.
From her press release:
“Abdominal and core exercises using special breathing techniques will rewire your trunk muscles to stabilize and support your spine in all activities. There will be a section devoted to activating the psoas/diaphragm connection.”
