An 18-year-old man is in the hospital after falling 50 feet down Silver Cascade Falls while hiking in Cheyenne Canyon on Friday, the Colorado Springs Fire Department said.

“He has suffered non-life threatening injuries,” spokeswoman Sunny Smaldino said.

Smaldino said she didn’t know the extent of the man’s injuries.

Significant enough to go to the hospital in an ambulance,” she said.

“It’s not just a twisted ankle or a dislocated knee or something like that. It’s certainly something more significant.”
