ANB Bank has agreed to acquire Capital West Bank of Laramie, Wyo., in a transaction expected to be completed by year’s end, the Denver-based institution announced Tuesday.

Capital West has $160 million in assets spread among its branches in Fort Collins, Cheyenne and Laramie, expanding ANB’s reach in northern Colorado and Wyoming and boosting its assets to more than $2.2 billion. The acquisition and merger must be approved by Capital West’s shareholders and state and federal regulators.

ANB is owned by Denver-based Sturm Financial Group Inc. and operates in Colorado, Kansas and Wyoming. The bank is building new branches in downtown and northeast Colorado Springs.
