Tim McGrawTop country music stars are joining with military charities in a program of ads to encourage troops and veterans to take advantage of behavioral health care.

The “This Country Cares” ads will feature stars including Tim McGraw, Dierks Bently, Gary Allen and Billy Ray Cyrus.

“Last year, the U.S. lost more troops to suicide than to combat,” the coalition behind the ads said in a news release. “On average, 18 American veterans take their own lives every day. Annual surveys by Blue Star Families consistently show that 92 percent or more of American military families believe that the country does not understand or appreciate their service and sacrifice.”

The coalition backing the ads includes Blue Star Families, HealthNet, Inc., The Creative Coalition, The Nashville Film Institute, Uncharted Mind Productions and the Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (T.A.P.S.).
