gbfA nonprofit that supports Green Berets and their families will host a fundraising dinner Friday in Morrison.
The dinner, benefitting the Green Beret Foundation, will give attendees the chance to get up close and personal with Special Forces troops, said retired Master Sgt. Scott Neil, director of strategic development for the foundation.
“The dinner is a way to meet Green Berets who most people have only read about,” Neil said. “We’re not actors or characters in a book. We’re real men.”
The event is slated to take place from 6-9 p.m. Friday at The Fort, 19192 Highway 8 in Morrison.
Joe Teti, co-star of the Discovery Channel show “Dual Survival” and a former Green Beret, will speak at the dinner.
Current and former Special Forces troops, including members of the Colorado National Guard’s Special Forces Detachment and Fort Carson’s 10th Special Forces Group, will be on hand to speak with attendees.
The foundation is headquartered in San Antonio, Texas. Liaisons in Colorado work with the state’s current and former Green Berets, Neil said.
The foundation provides support to injured and ill Green Berets, and the families of Green Beret casualties.
Its efforts include providing emergency funds to Green Berets wounded in theater, assistance to families of the fallen and scholarships to Green Beret dependents.
It also pays for in vitro fertilization for severely wounded Special Forces troops and hyperbaric oxygen therapy for those who live with traumatic brain injuries.
Tickets to the dinner are $195. VIP tickets, which include admission to a VIP cocktail and hors d’oeuvres reception, are $250.
