An upcoming event aims to offer free legal advice to people struggling financially across the Pikes Peak region.
The El Paso Bar Association plans to host a pro bono legal clinic from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the Marian House, just west of the intersection of Cascade Avenue and Bijou Street.
Six attorneys are scheduled to appear at the clinic to offer legal advice, said Sam Edwards, Catholic Charities of Central Colorado’ vice president of poverty reduction. The event is open to the general public, and there are no income restrictions for people seeking help, he said.
Disability disputes, custody battles and landlord issues usually dominate the sessions, which are typically held on the fourth Saturday of every month.
“Family law and housing issues are a big deal, so they spend a lot of time and energy advising on that,” Edwards said.
