Jeff Wallingford is the new Woodland Park Middle School principal. Woodland Park School District Re-2’s board approved the hiring at this month’s monthly meeting.
Wallingford comes from Colby, Kan., where he has been a high school principal. He has 20 years of experience in education, with eight years of middle school administrative experience.
He received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Central Oklahoma, Oklahoma City; his master’s from Northeastern State, Tahlequah; and his educational leadership degree from Pittsburg State, Kan.
With childhood memories of visiting family in Colorado Springs, Wallingford is familiar with the area and describes Woodland Park as the exact kind of community he and his wife, Deena, want to live.
“I’m excited to come and be a part of the Woodland Park family,” he says. “It’s all about the kids. As long as I keep that front and center, everything else will work itself out.”
The Wallingfords have four children, with the youngest graduating from high school this month.
“Everyone seems so down to earth and friendly in this community,” Wallingford says.
Wallingford is replacing John Jamison, who has been with RE-2 for 22 years and the Woodland Park Middle School Principal since 2005.
