Janusz Hankiewicz, a research associate at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs and a member of CU’s BioFrontiers Center, was recently honored for his efforts in developing and commercializing new medical imaging contrast agents.
For his work, the CU Technology Transfer Office presented him with the CU New Inventor of the Year award. His work focuses on diagnostic medical imaging techniques, such as magnetic resonance imaging, nuclear resonance imaging and positron emission tomography. He has developed improved imaging procedures and contrast agents, which are used to enhance the visibility of body structures such as blood vessels during medical imaging procedures.
Hankiewicz and his colleagues also recently received a grant from the Colorado Bioscience Discovery and Evaluation grant program.
The CU Technology Transfer Office pursues, protects, packages and licenses to business the intellectual property generated from research done at CU campuses.
