A junior at Carthage College in Kenosha, Wisconsin, she was one of 60 students nationwide to be accepted from 700 applicants.
Students present their research to members of Congress and representatives from federal funding agencies. The goal is to inform lawmakers about the value of undergraduate research.
Her presentation will focus on “The Hunt for Agmatine Receptors on Macrophages,” part of her work during a summer research internship for prospective physician scientists. She worked under the guidance of Dr. Bryan Williams, who oversees a clinic for cystic fibrosis patients and studies bacteria that leads to chronic lung infections and resist common antibiotics.
Peabody is a biology and neuroscience major.
