Want to teach young children?
There is $400,000 in scholarships available for those attending Colorado community colleges, according to Colorado Department of Human Services and Colorado Department of Education.
The scholarships will be awarded to students working on certificates or associate’s degrees, and who intend to work in early childhood education, with a focus on those who will work in high-need regions of the state.
Money comes from Race to the Top challenge grants and the Colorado Community College foundation, according to the email announcement.
Dr. Nancy McCallin, president, Colorado Community College System, said “The need has never been greater. Our students require scholarships to enroll and continue in their studies, and these funds will assure that those wanting to pursue early childhood education as a career will have that opportunity.”
More than 3,000 students are studying early childhood education in state community colleges.
