The Boys’ and Girls’ Club has named Coronado High school student Ashley O-Donnell as the 2014 Colorado Youth of the Year.
The National Youth of the Year program, established in 1947, recognizes club members who, with the help of their club, have met personal challenges head-on and, despite the odds, have given back to their club and community.
Youth of the Year winners have demonstrated service to club, community, and family; academic success; strong moral character; life goals; and poise and public speaking ability.
Ashley is a Coronado honor student who competes in varsity basketball. She recently completed a certified nurse assistant program and plans to pursue a degree in nursing from the University of Colorado at Denver.
Ashley will advance to the National Regional Competition, which will be held in Dallas in June.
