A new amendment to the Child Care Development Block Grant Act was passed this week  by Congress.

It  will help states coordinate federal and state funding for early childhood education, according to an email press release from  the office of U.S. Senator Michael Bennet (D-Co.) .

“Early childhood education is essential to a child’s future,” Bennet stated.  “Early learning programs are proven to increase kindergarten readiness and to provide students with the early skills they need to succeed later in school and in life. ”

He and Johhny Isakson (R-Ga.), led a bipartisan push to get  the bill passed. It is expected to  help promote more coordinated programs.  It was cosponsored by Senators Mary Landrieu (D-LA) and Mark Kirk (R-IL).
