Kids who volunteer could win $10,000 scholarships

Kohl’s  Department Stores  is looking for some outstanding student volunteers  for their scholarship program.

The company will honor more than 2,300 students with a total of $400,000 in scholarship and prizes, according to   an email announcement from the retailer.

Nominations  for students age 6 to 18  are due before March 14.  The criteria is that the entrants must have made “a positive impact in their communities.”

Two nominees from  each of the  1,100 Kohl’s stores nationwide will win  $50 gift cards, and 200 will win regional  scholarships  of $1,000  each toward higher education. Ten national winners will win a total of $10,000.

At the same time, Kohl’s w ill donate $1,000 to a nonprofit for each national winner.
