NF_logoThe Black Forest Fire has made its way to this year’s FIRST LEGO League Team Challenge.

Elizabeth Colton, a former student at Edith Wolford Elementary, in Black Forest in Academy School District 20, is now a science teacher at Valley Horizon Elementary School in Yuma, Ariz.

Her elementary students are participating in the challenge, which has a theme of “Nature’s Fury.”

Her team chose Edith Wolford for their LEGO project, as a way to help save lives during a natural disaster, and has qualified for the state competition this weekend in Arizona.

Some 200,000 children, ages 9 to 16, from over 70 countries will explore the awe-inspiring storms, quakes, waves, fires and other natural disasters. Teams will discover what can be done when intense natural events meet the places people live, work and play.
