patriotic-clipartEighteen fifth-grade students from Patrick Henry Elementary in Colorado Springs School District 11 will get to show off their knowledge of the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution on Thursday during Liberty Day activities at Colorado College.

Liberty Day is a non-partisan, nonprofit national volunteer effort to educate Americans about the historical documents.

Students who are attending the event, which runs from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., completed after-school trainings by Becky Alexander, gifted and talented resource teacher, and Donna Priester, Pikes Peak Liberty Day coordinator.

CC is working with local service clubs, including the Colorado Springs Sertoma Club and the Academy Optimist Club, to present the activities, which will include quizzing students about the documents.
