Skate indoors instead

The downtown ice skating rink is coming down.

The rink that opened Nov. 22 officially closed on Jan 5, after a six week run.

The rink’s schedule was designed to correspond with the city’s public school vacations, allowing kids and parents plenty of time to skate those days away.

The city’s rink is not the only outdoor ice skating rink that closed this past weekend.

The vender that constructed and maintained the rink inside Acacia Park had 22 outdoor rinks nationwide. Each was closed on Jan 5.

Indoor ice skating rinks remain open throughout the city.
