When friends and family and enemies and strangers mentioned Knowshon Moreno as the Broncos starting running back, I was confused. Were they talking about the same Knowshon Moreno that I had watched for several seasons? The one who looked out-of-place on an NFL field?
But there’s a whole new No. 27 on the field for the Broncos. He looked dazzling on Sunday against the Giants.
He looked, when you think about it, like a healthy version of Willis McGahee. Moreno runs with more confidence, more power, more authority and he’s added 15 pounds of muscle to his frame.
He’s showed signs of being a worthy sidekick to Peyton Manning. There are few better gigs in sports than playing running back in Manning’s offense. The defense is always surprised to see someone running the ball, and the yards tend to come easily.
