Air Force’s Michael Lyons will face an even more fierce brand of defense after his 45-point bombardment of CSU on Saturday. Coach Dave Pilipovich expects to see  an assortment of “junk defenses” by opposing teams. Expect to see Lyons surrounded by defenders the rest of the season.

The Falcons success will depend on Lyons improvement as a passer. He’s been solid in sharing the ball. He must become superb.

His teammates will play a role in his success. Pilipovich is worried the Falcons might start watching Lyons. This makes sense. It was difficult not to watch and marvel during his performance on Saturday.

But the rest of the Falcons must aggressively seek open spots when the ball arrives in Lyons hands. Air Force can shoot. There’s little about about this.

If Lyons is surrounded, there will be plenty of open Air Force shooters. He must find them starting tonight against Boise State.
