New Mexico’s Lobos demolished Air Force three times last season, winning the games by a total of 84 points. The Lobos won the first two meetings by a total of 69 points.
Those demolitions give Air Force reason for hope as the Falcons prepare to invade New Mexico for a crucial Wednesday night game.
New Mexico coach Steve Alford will be telling his players how dangerous and transformed the Falcons are, and he will struggle to get his players attention. They’ll see his mouth moving and they’ll kind of hear what he’s saying, but in their minds they will remember what happened last season. Three games. Three blowouts.
Air Force will have to deliver a superlative effort, the Falcons finest of the season, to deliver an upset.
But it’s possible. Last season’s pain is one reason why.
What a terrible insight on a team that has a chance to win based on their own talent not because the opposition might get complacent. Instead of reporting on stats and strategy the author reports on speculation resulting from games that happened a year ago!

I said last season’s troubles were one reason to be optimistic. I didn’t say those troubles were the only reason to be optimistic. I was, after all, sitting courtside for Saturday’s win over San Diego.
It’s still Air Force Basketball…..glad someone cares, but a couple wins doesn’t mean we’re now a team that matters.
I’m looking forward to hearing about Air Force Football recruiting and the CC-DU hockey games this weekend.

Anyone at the CC-DU hockey game last night at World Arena (and over 7,750 were there) knows why that is ‘the game’ you have to attend in Colorado Springs. Couldn’t believe Mr. Ramsey was at a high school game. So sorry you missed the CC-DU game and were not able to write about it. Covering High School basketball on the same night as CC-DU at World Arena – REALLY?!?!?!?!?! Is that Mr. O’Connell’s decision?????

Not to be a jerk and add on, but when DU plays at CC, and Army/Navy plays at Air Force in football, you would think the Gazette columnist would be there to cover the top sporting events being played in a Colorado Springs arena. No excuse in my mind. No excuse at all.
