Thoirmbert 3Western Michigan coach Andy Murray is not overlooking the Tigers headed into this weekend in this week’s USCHO column:

“I think CC might be certainly one of, if not the, most improved teams since the start of the season,” Murray said. “We’ve been studying a lot of their games on video recently, and we know our first game against them in the first half, we won in overtime. …

“We’re trying to hang in there and see if we can get points, but I expect Colorado to be really good, and if we’re to get points out there, we’re going to have to be really on top of our game.”

CC senior goalie Josh Thorimbert, pictured,  made the NCHC honor roll as a goalie of the week nominee. Duluth senior Aaron Crandall won the award for the third time in five weeks.  Here is the release listing the honorees.

Here is the submission on Thorimbert.

Josh Thorimbert, Sr., G, CC – Posted a .949 save percentage and a 1.94 goals-against average at Minnesota Duluth, making a career-high 50 saves in a 2-2 tie Friday, as well as two shootout stops, while adding 24 saves on Saturday in a 2-1 defeat, as he shut out UMD in four of six periods in the series.
