Fans at Friday’s game will enjoy some special moments this weekend with the Tigers playing a special white throwback jersey for the NCHC contest against Western Michigan with the alumni on hand coming out onto the ice to be recognized during first intermission.
“It’s very exciting,” Tigers coach Scott Owens said. “We have a good representation of people coming back, a few all-decade guys from 1950s and 1960s and more recent players. Tom Preissing is coming in as well.”
Fans may also go to a pregame reception at Hotel Elegante from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday.
“There will be a lot of alums reminiscing,” said Owens, a 1979 graduate. “You don’t remember the scores or where you placed in the standings but you remember the stories. It is a lot of fun. There will be a lot of laughs and smiles.”
Further details on the look of the jersey, which will be mostly white with patches on the shoulders, are being kept quiet.
“It’s very unique, very white and it will be a lot of fun,” Owens said. “It will remind the people of the old Tigers.”
