Colorado College freshman defenseman Jaccob Slavin garnered his second National Collegiate Hockey Conference honor when he was named as the league rookie of the week award winner. He was the defenseman of the week honoree on Oct. 14.
He scored three goals and blocked six shots in last weekend’s two losses at North Dakota. He scored twice in a span of 2:31 to help the Tigers get within one, 4-3, and record his first multi-goal game. He was also the first CC player to score twice in one game this season.
Slavin scored a go-ahead goal in an eventual 3-2 loss on Saturday and played a large role on a successful penalty kill (seven for eight).
The other NCHC honorees are: Western Michigan senior forward Chase Balisy, offense; North Dakota senior Dillon Simpson, defenseman; and Minnesota-Duluth senior netminder Aaron Crandall.
