Colorado College freshman defenseman Gustav Olofsson and his luggage are stuck in Chicago due to the recent cold snap that has swamped the nation’s airports and delayed and canceled a number of flights.
Olofsson took home a silver medal with Team Sweden from the 2014 world junior championships in Malmo, Sweden. He is expected to arrive in Colorado on Wednesday. He will rejoin the Tigers at Denver International Airport before they fly out for this weekend’s NCHC series at North Dakota.
Fellow freshman Jaccob Slavin was given Monday and Tuesday’s practices off to rest up after returning from Sweden late Friday and playing in the Tigers’ home loss to Brown on Saturday.
Olofsson is not the only hockey player struggling to get back home. The Alaska-Anchorage team is stuck in the Minneapolis airport after missing a connecting flight from Madison, Wisc. They will reportedly fly back on Thursday.
