Mandi SchwartzHere is a good feature on Jaden Schwartz from last week.

His older sister Mandi Schwartz continues to motivate hockey players: A “Heroic Inspirations” card featuring the Wilcox product – who died April 3, 2011 at age 23 after battling acute myeloid leukemia for more than two years – is scheduled to appear in the 2013-14 NHL Upper Deck Series One.

Former Tiger goalie Joe Howe, who had a 3-2-1 record and 2.52 goals-against average as a backup, has left the CHL’s Missouri Mavericks to join the ECHL’s Cincinnati Cyclones.

No. 17 Denver plays at UMass at 5 MT tonight.

Minnesota is the clear No. 1 in both national polls: USCHO and USA Today/USA Hockey. WCHA leader Ferris State is No. 2 ahead of Michigan and No. 4 St. Cloud State.

The NCHC announced its players of the week. Junior defenseman Aaron Harstad was CC’s nominee after recording 12 blocked shots on the weekend (seven Saturday) at Wisconsin.
