No. 2 St. Cloud State picked up ground (22 first-place votes) in the weekly USCHO.com poll, but Minnesota remained No. 1 (27).
More notable is that North Dakota fell out of the rankings, landing well behind No. 20 New Hampshire, Colorado College’s home foe this Friday and Saturday.
Air Force picked up votes and remains ahead of Denver. First-place Nebraska-Omaha is now No. 17. Also of note: Ferris State of the WCHA jumped from No. 10 to No. 6.
No. 19 Minnesota-Duluth 6, No. 1 Minnesota 2
MINNEAPOLIS – Junior forward Justin Crandall totaled four points, including a pair of goals, and No. 19 Minnesota Duluth scored four power play goals to record a 6-2 upset over No. 1 Minnesota Sunday afternoon at Mariucci Arena in non-conference action. The Bulldogs (6-5-1, 2-2-0-0 NCHC) salvaged a weekend split with their in-state rival Gophers (9-2-1, 0-0-0 B1G), after Minnesota won Friday, 6-1.
After scoring the first goal Friday only to have the Golden Gophers score six unanswered, UMD left little to chance on Sunday, tallying three first-period goals to put the Bulldogs in command.
