Prognosticators taking it on the chin so far

UNO vs. SCSURemember when the ECAC preseason poll had Clarkson picked to place last out of the league’s 12 teams? The Golden Knights, which at 9-2-1 have matched last season’s win total, are ranked No. 11 in the latest USCHO rankings, where Minnesota remains No. 1 followed by Michigan, St. Cloud State, Notre Dame and Providence.

Air Force picked up a few votes as well, just behind Nebraska-Omaha which is tied with SCSU for the NCHC lead. Remember where the Mavericks were picked in the NCHC? Last you say? You are correct.

Alaska-Anchorage, now 5-3 after two home losses to Bowling Green, has surpassed last season’s win total (4-25-7).

The ECAC has six teams in the USCHO Top 20. The much-ballyhooed NCHC has four — No. 3 SCSU, No. 8 Miami, No. 13 North Dakota and No. 20 Minnesota-Duluth.

Note to self: Waste less of your time on preseason poll ballots next September.

Another note: There are a lot of games left.
