Without a Peer, one of the best fan blogs around, posted its annual preview for the ECAC’s Clarkson, a future foe for Colorado College Oct. 25-26. And yes, I will be in Potsdam, N.Y. for the series.

Nebraska-Omaha added a bruising defenseman to plugs some holes from those who left early for the pros.

Here is a list of the pro defections so far in the NCHC:

Colorado College – none.

Denver – Scott Mayfield So. D NY Islanders; Juho Olkinoura So. G Winnipeg; Nick Shore Jr. F Los Angeles

Miami – none.

Minnesota-Duluth — Chris Casto So. D Boston

Nebraska-Omaha — Andrej Sustr Jr. D Tampa Bay; Tony Turgeon Jr. D San Antonio (AHL).

North Dakota – Derek Forbort Jr. D Los Angeles

St. Cloud State — Nick Jensen Jr. D Detroit

Western Michigan — Danny DeKeyser Jr. D Detroit

St. Cloud State coach Bob Motzko announced that senior forward Nic Dowd (Huntsville, Ala.) and senior defenseman Kevin Gravel (Kingford, Mich.) have been named team co-captains, while junior forward Nick Oliver (Roseau, Minn.) will serve as an alternate captain for the upcoming 2013-14 season.
“These three players will provide a seamless transition for our team’s leadership in 2013-14,” Motzko said.  “They have been the backbone for the type of team we are building here at St. Cloud State and they will certainly carry on the outstanding tradition of excellence provided by all of our former captains.”
