Head coaches Scott Owens of Colorado College and Frank Serratore of Air Force will be the featured speakers at the annual and always-entertaining Colorado Springs Sports Corp College Hockey Face Off Luncheon at noon Wednesday, Oct. 2, at the Colorado Springs Marriott.
Air Force (17-13-7) and CC (18-19-5) both fell short of the NCAA Tournament last spring. The Falcons fell to eventual playoff champion Canisius and CC lost in its final Western Collegiate Hockey Association Final Five championship game to Wisconsin.
The Tigers open play with an exhibition game against New Brunswick Saturday, Oct. 5 while Air Force plays the Reds on Monday, Oct. 7.
The season marks the start of CC’s entry into the new National Collegiate Hockey Conference, which includes member institutions Denver, Miami, Minnesota Duluth, Nebraska Omaha, North Dakota, St. Cloud State, and Western Michigan.
The Tigers also play the U.S. Under-18 team at the World Arena on Oct. 12 before hosting Minnesota-Duluth on October 18 in their nationally televised NCHC opener.
Air Force heads to Alaska for pair of games on Oct. 11-12 against Alaska-Fairbanks and Alaska-Anchorage. Penn State comes to Colorado Springs to play the Falcons on Oct. 18-19.
CC and Air Force resume their intra-city rivalry on Nov. 19.
