Eight freshmen clear Air Force basic training

AFAlogo2012Five forwards, two defensemen and a goaltender cleared basic cadet training and joined the Air Force hockey team, coach Frank Serratore announced on Wednesday.

They are:

Max Birkinbine of White Bear Lake, Minn., a 5-foot-10, 172-pound forward, began last season with Des Moines of the U.S. Hockey League (18 points, 14 assists, 39 games) and finished with North American Hockey League’s Fairbanks Ice Dogs (16 points, 11 assists, 26 games)

Ryan Dau of Hudson, Wis., a 6-1, 175-pound forward, recorded 21 points (14 goals) in 51 games split between the NAHL’s Wichita Falls and Janesville franchises.

Ryan Doucet of San Jose, Calif., a 6-foot-4, 205-pound forward, recorded 40 points (29 assists) total with two NAHL teams (Odessa, Jamestown) in 55 games last season.

David Henry of Foster City, Calif, a 5-foot-7, 175-forward, recorded 21 points (15 assists) in 57 games for the USHL’s Sioux City Musketeers.

Johnny Hrabovsky of Humelstown, Pa., a 5-11, 184,-pound defenseman, recorded 13 points (nine assists) in 55 games for the USHL’s Tri-City Storm.

Tyler Rostenkowski, of Bloomingdale, Ill, a 5-10, 182-pound defenseman tallied 21 points (17 assists in 49 games for the NAHL’s Amarillo Bulls.

A.J. Reid of Lakeville, Minn., a 5-10, 190-pound forward tallied 65 points (40 assists) in 55 games for NAHL Austin during this past regular season with a plus-15 plus/minus rating.

Chris Truehl, a 6-3, 180-pound goalie form Stoughton, Wis., posted a .923 saves percentage with the Johnstown Tomahawks of the NAHL, making 941 saves in 2,031 minutes.
